Salty cookies on the night of the Feast of St. Sarkis


On January 27 the Armenian Church will celebrate the feast of the saint mediating for the youth and love - St. Sarkis the Captain. It is traditionally celebrated by the church rituals and folk traditions, in particular by tasting salty cookies.

The first year students of the Gevorkian Seminary received the blessing of the Armenian patriarch


The students, who have been accepted into the Gevorkian Theological Seminary, according to the tradition, meet with the Catholicos of All Armenians and receive his blessing. This year, 18 students have stepped into to the Seminary, and 17 new students – to Vazgenian School of Sevan. The first students were accompanied by Rev. Fr. Garegin Hambardzumyan, inspector of the Gevorkian Seminary.

December 2 is the Holy Lance pilgrimage day


On December 2, the Armenian Apostolic Church will celebrate the memory of founding Apostles Thaddeus and Bartholomew. From 2015, by the Pontifical encyclical the Feast of the Apostles has been proclaimed the Holy Lance Pilgrimage Day. Every year, the Holy Lance is brought to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin for the believers to touch it and get empowered by its miracle.

The members of the AGBU Ladies' Union of Argentina and the pilgrims of the Catholic Community of Perchtoldsdorf arrived in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
 

Biblical Knowledge Contest-Muster for Schoolchildren


The Center for Christian Education of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Armenian Bible Society jointly with the Yerevan Municipality Educational Department have been organizing a Biblical Knowledge Contest for the first time this year, with participation of students from schools of six administrative districts of Yerevan. On October 23 and 24, 112 pupils from 29 schools who had passed the school and community stages of the contest, gathered at the School No7 after Mayakovsky for the city stage of the competition.
 

2017 թ. Republican stage of the contest “Best Teacher 2017” in Eurnekian Public School


On October 4, around 130 pedagogues who passed the first stage of contest on Marz level, were participating in the republican stage of Best Teacher contest in Eurnekian Public School of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.  
 

The pilgrims of the Armenian Diocese of Bulgaria in Armenia


From September 5, a group of pilgrims of 50 from the Armenian Diocese of Bulgaria was in Armenia within the scope of the program “Pilgrimage to the Mother Armenia”, which was headed by the Primate of the Diocese Rev. Fr. Isahak Poghosian. The pilgrims are delighted with the churches, monasteries and specifically, warm human relations of Armenia.  “We were really concerned, since many of them are in Armenia for the first time and don’t know the language well, however, everyone responded positively”.

Brave combination of Russian string ensemble and duduk


On September 7, joint concert of Jivan Gasparyan the junior and Russian string ensemble took place in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. The musicians managed to present a synthesis of the two nations’ music through Russian folk instruments and duduk. During the night, jazz performances were also heard featuring the special guest Vahagn Hayrapetyan.  

The right of St. James of Nisibis (Hakob Mtsbna) was taken to St. Hakob Church in Kanaker


On December 16, the Armenian church celebrated Commemoration day of the Pontiff St. James of Nisibis, hermit St. Maruge and Bishop St. Melitus. On the occasion of the Feast, A Divine Liturgy was offered in all Churches bearing the name Hakob (James), and the graceful Right of the Saint was brought from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to St. Hakob Church in Kanaker.
