The Carpet Collection of the Mother See


For centuries, carpets have been kept in the treasury of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin as cultural treasures. These carpets are not simply decorative objects, but eloquent witnesses of a culture. The collection of the Mother See was formed not as a result of planned collection, but as a result of time, donations and historical upheavals. Under the care of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, the collection is currently being supplemented with the aim of becoming a complete material for a carpet museum in the future.

This year, the canopy of His Holiness the Patriarch was carried by lawyers Ara Zohrabyan, Yerem Sargsyan, Ara Ghazaryan, and Dr. Arthur Grabsky. This is not accidental, because since last year the church has been forced to defend its right to independence, autonomy, and spiritual mission in court.

 

Georgian Armenians Celebrate the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ


The Divine Liturgy of the Resurrection was celebrated at the Holy Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi by the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, Bishop Kirakos Davtyan. Representatives of the Georgian authorities were present. At the end of the ceremony, the Bishop blessed the painted eggs and announced the good news of the Savior's glorious Resurrection.

The Order of the Eclipse was Performed in the Armenian Apostolic Churches


On the evening of Holy Thursday, in memory of the betrayal and suffering of Christ, the Order of the Eclipse is performed in Armenian churches, which is part of the sacrament of Good Friday. On Thursday evening, the Son of God is arrested by betrayal, subjected to torture, humiliation, and then sentenced to death. The ceremony of the Eclipse and Sorrow in the churches lasts until midnight. 12 candles are lit on the Holy Altar, they are the symbols of the apostles, in the center is the large candle symbolizing Christ, because the light that liberates from the darkness of the Night of the Eclipse is Christ.

A collection of archival documents on the renovations of the Mother Cathedral has been published


The volume is dedicated to the rededication of the Mother Cathedral and the 25th anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians. The collection was compiled by Father Asoghik Karapetyan and historian Gohar Avagyan. The volume includes documents from the 7th to the 21st centuries from the Mashtotsyan Matenadaran, the National Archives of Armenia, and the Archives of the Mother See.
 

The memorial stone for the construction of the Mother Cathedral of Yerevan was laid in 1990, on March 31


36 years ago, on March 31, a memorial stone was laid in the center of Yerevan, which was blessed personally by the Catholicos of All Armenians, the late Vazgen I, announcing that after a break of decades, a new sanctuary would be built in the newly independent country, which had thrown off the yoke of atheism. Tumo Center Not Opening in Echmiadzin Due to Administrative and Legal Obstacles


The project for a modern educational complex for about 2,000 children has been ready for a long time. The architectural design, as well as 3D visualization and animation, have been prepared. This important initiative for the city has stalled not due to a lack of ideas or funds, but due to administrative and legal obstacles.
