Armenian Diocese of Iraq was established in 1944. Up till now, no priest from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin had ever been appointed to Iraq. Fr. Petros Azaryan and Fr. Narek Avagyan serve in Iraq with the blessing of the Patriarch Karekin II.
