On October 8, the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of the Armavir Province found Gevorg Nersisyan—the brother of the Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II—and his son, Hambardzum Nersisyan, guilty.
According to the defense team, the judge’s decision was entirely predictable and predetermined; the court will determine the severity of the sentence and the manner in which it is to be served during a subsequent phase of hearings. The next court session is scheduled for October 15 at 3:00 PM.
