August 16: Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Blessing of the Grapes

The Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, one of the five main feasts, on August 16. The liturgy of the feast is followed by the blessing of the grapes. The faithful honor the pious and humble Mother of God, asking for her intercession in prayer, and the next day, on the Day of the Dead, a liturgy is served and a requiem is performed.
