At the end of the requiem service in the Mother See, a requiem mass was held under the chairmanship of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians. The Sumgait massacres did not receive adequate political and legal assessment, which contributed to the further escalation of violence against Armenians in Azerbaijan and the implementation of new massacres.
