Armenian Diocese in Georgia to be funded from the State Budget of Georgia


As per the decision of the Georgian Government dated January 27 (“On partial compensation for the damage inflicted to religious groups in Georgia under the Soviet regime”), four organizations operating in Georgia, namely Armenian Apostolic Church, Roman Catholic Church, Muslim and Jewish religious organizations will hereafter be funded from the state budget.

Activities of Social Service of the Mother See


Recently, under the presidency of the Armenian Patriarch, Rev. Fr. Isahak Poghosyan was appointed as Director of Social Services of the Mother See. Armenian Church implements various social programs – charity canteens, Children’s Homes “Kyurkchian” and “Naghashian”, Home Building Project “Karekin II”, the Armenian Youth Centers, etc. The focus of the last two years is the Syrian Armenians.

Ecumenical prayer in the Holy Etchmiadzin Church of Tbilisi

Opening of memorial stone to the memory of ASALA in Vanadzor


On the eve of the Armenian Army, a celebratory Divine Liturgy was offered in all Armenian Apostolic Churches. At the Divine Liturgy in Vanadzor Holy Mother of God Church, the victimized Armenians of ASALA, Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia, were also recalled. At the end of the ceremony, in the Martyrs’ Park nearby the Church, a memorial stone to the memory of ASALA victims was opened.

Holy Nativity in Bethlehem


On January 18 and 19, the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, solemnly celebrated the Feast of the Holy Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Within 5 different days, different Churches offered a Divine Liturgy in the Holy Nativity Church of Bethlehem. The Armenian Church has picked January 18, which is January 6 in accordance with Julian calendar.

Festive concert of Youth Centers in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall


The members of Youth Centers operating under the auspices of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, initiated a charity concert dedicated to New Year and Christmas. The Concert Hall after Aram Khachaturian hosted around 3500 children from boarding schools, orphanages, non-governmental organizations and Syrian Armenians.
