Festive cross marching of St. Sarkis to the Lovers’ ParkOn the Feast of St. Sarkis, many young people participate in the now traditional cross marching to the Lovers’ Park. Araratian Diocese and Poghosyan Gardens Foundation organized a concert there. The celebration was attended by the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Mayor of Yerevan city Taron Margaryan.

Festivities of St. Sargis in Swan Lake ParkOn the Eve of the Feast of St. Sarkis, the intercessor of youth and love, January 30, the surroundings of the Swan Lake was swarming with hundreds of young people, couples and smiling elderly within a few minutes. Despite the cold weather, the horse-rider symbolizing St. Sarkis managed to approach everyone there. People there, in their turn, didn’t miss the opportunity to take photos with the horseman and take blessed salty biscuit from him. The couples in love were presented with pleasant surprises from the youth of Araratian Patriarchal Diocese.

Home blessing ceremony in fatherly house of freedom fighter Yervand KarapetyanFor quite a while, pastor of St. Harutyun Church in Nerkin Dvin, Father Yervand Karapetyan was looking for Karapetyans family, who at his ordination was named after their son. Chief Chaplain of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, at the ordination of 12 priests named them after the worriers deceased during Shushi liberation. One of them was Chuto (Kiddo) – Yervand Karapetyan, whose name is borne by Father Yervand. Recently the priest visited fatherly house of Yervand Karapetyan.

23rd anniversary of the Armenian ArmyThe events dedicated to the 23rd anniversary of the Armenian Army traditionally commence from Yerablur. The President of Armenia and the Patriarch of All Armenians put flowers to the memory of the deceased. Karekin II Catholicos of All Armenians and Aram I Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia voiced a Requiem prayer. The Armenian Patriarch delivered a speech of blessing. The Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan addressed the topic of recent upheavals and casualties on the border.

Patriarchal Message on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of Armed Forces of ArmeniaOn January 25, on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Armed Forces of Armenia, a Patriarchal message was delivered under the presidency of Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenian and Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. A prayer was also made for the endurance of the Republic of Armenia and Armenian Army. After the completion of the Divine Liturgy, a Requiem Repose of peaceful souls of the soldiers deceased for the defense of their Motherland.

Exhibition of photographs devoted to the centennial of the Armenian GenocideThe foyer of Yerevan City Hall hosted the exhibition of Tatevik Melkonyan titled “Cultural Genocide”. The photographer singled out 24 photographs. This number was chosen not accidentally: to commemorate the memory of Armenian Genocide victims, by the blessing of Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan, the Primate of Araratian Patriarchal Diocese, on every 24th of each month the members of Armenian Church Youth Unions organize presentations, discussions, pilgrimages and a number of other events.

Event and exercise “Let's Make Some Great Art” in the Museum of Contemporary ArtOn the initiative of Zangak Publishing House, for three days – January 22-24, the youngsters had the opportunity to enjoy an art exercise in the Museum of Contemporary Art. With the help of “Let’s Make Some Great Art” easy-to-use applications, the children were enabled to finalize, e.g. the smile of Mona Lisa, or to paint like Jackson Pollock using pencils, paints, scissors and paper.

Night of Brahms Music attended by German violinist Lara BoschkorOn January 23, Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra had 15 years old German violinist Lara Boschkor to perform together in the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The orchestra was guided by the conductor Harutyun Arzumanyan.

Armenian and English periodicals on the Armenian Genocide studies publishedArmenian Genocide Museum-Institute published two periodicals in Armenian and English. The scientific journal “Armenian Genocide Studies” addresses the issues of the history, historiography etc. The English-language International Journal of Armenian Genocide Studies covers articles and reviews on the Armenian Genocide and general genocide-related topics.

Requiem Mass for the Repose of the Soul of the little one in Avetisyan family of GyumriRequiem Mass for the Repose of the Soul of the youngest member of Avetisyan family deceased tragically took place in St. Nshan Church of Gyumri. In St. Sarkis Church of Yerevan, a parallel Requiem Mass for the Repose of the Soul of Seryozha was also held.
